My Day Off

For over four months I have attempted to get full time employment. The kind of employment that also includes medical, dental, vision. Oh the feeling it must be to be able to afford to be sick.

The other day I woke up and went to work, figuratively speaking. I currently work at finding stable employment. The hours are great, full time and some weekends. The commute is a breeze. I get out of my futon, not bed because I’m not made of bed money, and walk three steps to my desk and type, click and search on my computer.

This particular day at work was rough. As I was going through my e-mails I opened the folder I marked “Employment Docs”. I was instantly crushed. I was staring at over 200+ documents which consisted of, e-mails, appointments, revised resumes, cover letters, references, personality, questions, and other assorted documents just from January. Seeing all of these all resulted in one of two ways:

“Sorry…your name and info will be kept on file for future references”

o r

“We regret to inform you that we have found a more qualified candidate for the position of…”.

Now at that point I snapped and decided to take a day off from work. Wouldn’t you?
